Step 1: Get the Equipment You Need
Make sure you have the following tools available before you start:
- Two DStv decoders (Primary and Secondary)
- Smart LNB (if you don’t have one, consider upgrading for better performance)
- DStv subscription with the Extra View option activated
- Coaxial cables
- HDMI or RCA cables
- Remote controls for both decoders

To access DStv Extra-View, you must pay the standard DStv subscription charge plus an additional R105 per month for each additional decoder in the setup.
Step 2: Smart LNB Installation
Take the following actions if you haven’t already installed a Smart LNB:
- Locate the Dish: Find where the satellite dish is located.
- Disconnect Old LNB: Unplug any outdated LNBs from the satellite dish.
- Install Smart LNB: Make sure the Smart LNB is firmly affixed to the dish.
- Cable Connection: Attach the coaxial lines to the Smart LNB.

- Positioning: Connect the primary decoder to the main TV in your home using HDMI or RCA cables.
- Smart LNB Connection: Connect the primary decoder to the Smart LNB using a coaxial cable.

- Power Up: Plug in the power cable and turn on the secondary decoder.
Step 6: Pair the Decoders
- Remote Control Configuration: To reach the settings menu, use the remote control for the primary decoder.
- Turn on Heartbeat Connection: In the settings menu, turn on the Heartbeat connection.
- Do It Again for the Secondary Decoder: Do it again for the secondary decoder.
Step 7: Verify the Configuration
- Verify Signal Strength: Make sure the signals from both decoders are strong.
- Verify Channels: Make sure both decoders are able to get the same DSTV channels.
- Test Remote Control Functions: Verify that the remote controls are operating the appropriate decoders.
